This article of the German Technology Platform heise.de covers the remarks made by the United Nations Special Rapporteur on the right to privacy during his presentation to the Human Rights Council in March 2017. It points out that the Special Rapporteur Joseph Cannataci criticized governmental gesture politics. Furthermore, he urged them to stop “playing the fear-card”. It also underlines that oversight mechanisms are insufficient. That is also the case for a newly adopted German Law that regulates the National Intelligence Services.
