“In March this year, the so-called conspiracy bill was submitted to the Diet as ‘a bill to revise part of the law concerning punishment of organizational crime and regulation of crime proceeds, etc.’ It was passed by the House of Representatives the other day.
During the deliberations of the Legal Affairs Committee of the House of Representatives and the plenary session, it became clear that Mr. Joseph Cannataci, the special rapporteur on the right to privacy of the UN Human Rights Council, sent a letter to the Prime Minister concerning the conspiracy bill.
Mr. Joseph Cannataci, researcher of international human rights, explained the outline of the above letter concretely, the activities of the special rapporteur of the UN Human Rights Council and its significance. We hold this symposium as an opportunity for citizens to think about this measure once again.” (Japan Federation of Bar Associations)
