U.S. Supreme Court Justice Louis D. Brandeis, the first justice to interpret a constitutional right to privacy, was confirmed 100 years ago today. For the fifth year running, nonprofit NGO Patient Privacy Rights will present the Louis D. Brandeis Privacy Award which recognizes outstanding leadership in the field of health privacy. Each year, descendants of the influential Associate Justice are in attendance for this ceremony. This year, the honor goes to United Nations Special Rapporteur for the right to privacy, Professor Joe Cannataci, the first in this newly created role.
