In an interview at the Council of Europe, Joe Cannataci welcomes the joining of the Republic of Mauritius in the Data Protection Convention, “Convention 108”, as well as the spread of the Convention as an increasingly global legal instrument. Prof. Cannataci also comments on citizens’ expectations of safeguards and remedies across borders given the spread of borderless technology in a world without borders, and on the importance of enhancing understandings of privacy in on-line and off-line contexts.
